High heat generating granites of Kestanbol: future enhanced geothermal system (EGS) province in western Anatolia

نویسندگان

چکیده

Although the western Anatolian region is a foci for hydrothermal systems, this has several high heat-generating granitic intrusive bodies that qualify to be candidates enhanced geothermal systems (EGS). Considering future energy requirement, carbon dioxide emissions reduction strategies, food, and water security issues, these granites appear clean source country. One such granite located in Kestanbol area region. The radioactive heat generation of 28 Ma old varies from 5.25 10.38 μW/m3 with flow 92.47 128.61 mW/m 2. These values concur measured gradients exploratory bore wells. High radon content thermal waters areas indicates interaction between circulating fluids granite. This first time evaluation EGS potential Turkey been made. placed under compressive stress regime within Anatolian-Aegean regional tectonic framework.

Numerical Studies of Fluid-rock Interactions in Enhanced Geothermal Systems (egs) with Co2 as Working Fluid

There is growing interest in the novel concept of operating Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) with CO2 instead of water as heat transmission fluid. Initial studies have suggested that CO2 will achieve larger rates of heat extraction, and can offer geologic storage of carbon as an ancillary benefit. Fluid-rock interactions in EGS operated with CO2 are expected to be vastly different in zones wit...

Comparative Analysis of Power Plant Options for Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS)

Enhanced geothermal systems (EGS) extract heat from underground hot dry rock (HDR) by first fracturing the HDR and then circulating a geofluid (typically water) into it and bringing the heated geofluid to a power plant to generate electricity. This study focuses on analysis, examination, and comparison of leading geothermal power plant configurations with a geofluid temperature from 200 to 800 ...

A Selection Method for Power Generation Plants Used for Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS)

As a promising and advanced technology, enhanced geothermal systems (EGS) can be used to generate electricity using deep geothermal energy. In order to better utilize the EGS to produce electricity, power cycles’ selection maps are generated for people to choose the best system based on the geofluids’ temperature and dryness conditions. Optimizations on double-flash system (DF), flash-organic R...

Assessment of the resource base for engineered geothermal systems in Great Britain

Background Engineered or enhanced geothermal systems (EGS) have been promoted as a technology that exploits geothermal heat and power production from regions of the crust devoid of shallow high enthalpy reservoirs (also referred to as high-grade hydrothermal resources) (e.g., MIT 2006). The status of EGS development was reviewed by Breede et al. (2013) who reported on 14 EGS projects that were ...
